My Yummies:
Independance Day, Dil Chahta Hai, Jhankar Beats, Fight Club (recently caught on the cult)

Oh gosh. Its been like how long since i updated this page. Not that i have not been seeing any movies. Seeing a lot of them infact. But no time to write notes. Anyway, will try to be more regular to these pages more often. Listing some of so many movies i have seen.

Catch 22
This is absurd. This is brilliantly absurd. Height of arbidity. Must Watch. Yosarian Rocks. And so do the rest of the psychopathic bunch. This is hell lot of madness. And you want it. You need it.

The Day After Tomorrow
No Story. Crappy Acting. Third Class Science Fiction. Overall, just ok to watch once that too on Telivision. BUt for couple of scenes like the view from the Space Station and the way the helicopter gets struck in the eye of the strom, they is nothing too good in the movie to think about. And the president's speech in the end, was the crappiest of all. If they cant do a good president's speech, then they better dont do it. Atleast for the sake of speeches in ID4 (today we celebrate our independance day) and JFK (to the class of 65, welcome to the new frontier). These speeches still send the chill down me.

Butterfly Effect
I liked it. Particularly the way the movie is paced. Something slow going on initially, which turns out to be an absolute funda moving ahead. Man being god. That whole concept has always been so very attractive !! And they present it excellently.

Pirates of the Carribean
Excellento!! Johny Depp is brilliant. And picturization and effects are also too good. Must watch for the action/ SFX freaks.

Conspiracy Theory
Mel Gibson and Julia "PW" Roberts at their usual best. Infact this is one movie where i can say i liked (and infact liked too much) Mel Gibson's part. But ofcourse the best part of the movie is the script. Though the ending is kind takeaway (problem with all just OK OK movies) but still much much better than a lot crap being cooked up these days.

GOTHIKA
Another excellent one. Properly measured quantity of fear. Just an average story. I particularly liked Penelope Cruz's part and her acting.

Lord of the Rings
Well you shouldnt read the review about Fellowship of the Rings that i wrote down here after reading this. But this is one the movie that we should be proud to say was made when we were young. Its an milestone in movie making. Despite being 3 hr 30 minutes footage, its keep you struck to your seat. I watched it atleast 4 times. Great soundtrack. Great fights. Everything is too good. If you dont watch this one, you dont deserve to read this page.

The Last Samurai
Nicey dicey. I mean just nice. Not a waste of money definitely. Couple of scenes are excellent. Story is good. Girls can watch Tom Cruise. Rest is just fine.

You people must be saying i am not writing anything bad about any movie. Well since i just trying to recall all the movies i have seen (which i possibly cant) i am just remember the good ones as of now.

S. W. A. T.
Basically a crap. But the loads of action and gun fights. And i got to watch this movie in the best seat of the theatre. It was like every bullet fired was going through my head. So enjoyed it.

Cold Mountain
Nicole Kidman, Rene Zellweger: Great girls. Rene's part was very good. Script was excellent. Also we found some real COLD MOUNTAINs at the multiplex that day.

Matrix Revolutions
Best part if the "Battle of the Docks". Also saw Animatrix. This is cult.

Once upon a time in Mexico
Some latino crap

T3: Rise of the Machines
Talk to the Hand is good. Well dont compare it with Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Thats a milestone movie. Nothing can compare to that. Dont expect that Einstein will be born again. Just this part in itself. And its good for that.

Jeepers Creepers 1 and 2
Both parts are damn good and will scare the hell out of you. And the story nice is also decent.

OK Hindi movie stuff

YUVA
Very good. Particular the movie track. Story line was pretty idealist but ofcourse had elements to which almost everyone can relate to at some point of the other. But ofcourse about the Hindi version, i felt that they over did the Bengali setting thing. To some extent it went on to tbe overactting. And HOLY CRAP Abhishek Bachhan. Somebody tell him to work on his facial expression. Let it come naturally. But still the MOVIE overall is nicey dicey. I enjoyed it.

Krishna Cottage
YUCK. They have filled it up with lots of sounds and scare elements but no acting and/or script to support it. Its like crossing Ekta Kapoor with Ramsay Family. And you get Krishna Cottage. Absolute mule (khachchar).

Kal Ho na Ho
Can someone kill Shahrukh Khan please. Good for him. I mean damn hell man. Everybody in the damn movie is crying. Conclusion: If you can cry in a variety of situations and you got some good figure/face, you can be great star in INDIA

Ram Gopal Varma is at his own level of godliness in BOLLYWOOD. Too good. Proper hollywood flicks

3 Deewarein
Well 3 Deewarein had a nice plot, excellent actors who did a brilliant job, and it was a very sensible movie. But ofcourse, slow ... and not catchy. U need to have the taste for such stuff to like it. Its like "thandi chai" you wont like it unless u like it

Samay
About time, there was this movie SAMAY starting JACKIE and SUSH. Seemed to be crappy stuff from the promos etc. but yes nice plot and well done job. Worth sometime pass.

I am not finding lot of time these days. But will try to put some updates here as and when i see some movies.

Movies are an Indian's all time time pass. As we call it : jhakas. So here is a page dedicated to the spirit of (er.. um..) being Indian. hey cool it i am not going the Sunny Deol way. But still if you are interested read on. I will have my updates (read expert comments) on the movies i see. Critics may contact for details. Just kidding.

Now Note: I haven't got much of time to keep updating these pages. Whenever i find time i will try to write something. But right now i am adding a list of movies i have seen very recently

D e s i M o v i e s

Company

Indian movies have improved a lot these days. We do get those useless Mithun Da variety and ofcourse the senti Sharukh Variety. But different movies are on the rise. Company sure is different. Well we just don't get to see such movies very often.

When we were children movies were like goood guy and bad guy and bad guy creates trouble and the good guys fixes things up (the engineer way). And he gets bonus for that. Heroine. Heroine have no role. Mere masala. And finally the hero fixes thing once and for always. Happy Ending.

Not anymore. That level of abstraction that movies have added onto with depicting more of a real life. Life which we don't see. Company depicts life (and death) of dons. Brilliantly presented and excellent performance by Ajay Devgan and Chandu (What his name?). One very special thing i observe in this movie is the fast pace of things that happen. Previously when we had a fight sequence it was like the director tried to emphasize on each every little detail being made clearly visible to the viewer. Thats where the Desi Movies differ from the Non desi ones. The need for pace in movies is critical. Events happening and passing by rapid kepps the viewer gasping for breathe. I love that feeling And of course style is important and Company has a great lot of it. Personally i like Manisha's Eye Flick, Malik's Coolness and Sreenivasan's Brilliance. Must check out.

DEVDAS

I doono what i should say. Better dont watch it. Waste of time, money and everything. Only thing i appreciate about this movies is its marketing team. They were absolutely successful at promoting such a useless pile of junk. I guess the Economic Times should frame a new award for "Best Marketeer of an Absolutely Useless Product". Wot say junta ???

Minority Report

One good movie after a loooong time. I mean maybe they were good movies in between but i was kinda stuck with other stuff so could not see movies a long time. But anyway now i am back. So i went to this movies with Gogi at the start of 7th Semester. Placements season at high and i know how i pursuaded gogi to come with me. I mean nothing much. Now back to movie review. As i wrote this is brilliant stuff. I mean given a time frame of 50 years from today whatall can you think of. I am sure this beats everyone at that. And once you it you realize that technologically everything they show is feasible. I mean forget the Psycho and ignore the mutated plants, everything else is actually technologically possible. Its just a matter of time and effort before we see it in our hands. I should appreciate this capability to see with such close precision the technology and its implications in the near future. Other than the tech. stuff, the story line and performances everything just met the mark. Well i should say we can expect this much from Speilberg. For all those science fiction enthusiasts who havent seen it as yet, i d say you shouldnt be missing this.

Bend it like Beckham

Well whoever was comparing it to Monsoon Wedding was bloody good damn wrong. Its not at all a bad movie but can never be to the mark that Monsoon Wedding was. Its got a good story line but it does not have all that much of a appeal. It just is able to drive me with the story line while engrossing me into an emotional shock wave. Its just not brilliant. Its fine. There is nothing special in the movie just that you can watch it for timepass. Thats it.

Fellowship of the Rings

This movies is more of as My senior Rahul calls it (CALTO). You watch it for 3 and a half hour and then when expect to get the max. fight thing starting they tell you that the movies is over. Bloody .... I sure am not gonna watch any more the sequels of this thing. What the heck man. Once you starting grasping all those tongue twisting names and your mind maps some phoneme set to some character they suddenly introduce another 10 weirdos and i call it tongue knoting names. I must say this is pure shit.

Spiderman

Well i must say that the actual Spiderman cartoon thing (one of my favourites) we had was much better (You can consider it to be because of my mindset) but in any case this one is not something you can miss. Though some of the Spiderman Fundas have been totally changed the things fit in perfectly and keep you stuck to the seat. The fast pace of things i mentioned is not their but still the things are like they could perfectly be. Spiderman - transformation of a geek into a hero. Go for it.
